On this blog I have talked a lot about the friends who have made a big difference in my life. So I wanted to take the opportunity to write a bit about a family member who has always been there for me.
There is no better time to talk about how much my mom has done for me and continues to do for me and my family than around the holidays. She’s always had a knack for picking out the most perfect gifts.
In October of the year I was in grade 7, I pointed out a pink pea coat. Somehow Christmas morning I unwrapped the same pink coat. The look of surprise on my face I wish I could have seen it. This is what my mom does she finds a way to make Christmas a little extra special for all of us. She puts so much thought into all our gifts it is what makes christmas extra special. Both my parents do and don’t worry dad you will get a sappy blog written about you eventually.
Another Christmas present near the top of my list of best presents I ever received, was hand sewn matching pyjamas for me and my american girl. For anyone who knows me as a kid my american girls were my life. Was I a bit of an odd child, yes maybe, but that is not what is important here.
My mom was constantly sewing for me and my sisters. We’d all be watching a movie and she’s be working away sewing something for us I don’t know if she ever took a break from being a mom. She also made us and all our friends bags to carry our american girls in and mom I would still love to be your bussiness partner if you are interested, I think we’d make a killing.
My mom was a brownie troop leader, a stroke and turn official at my swim meets and so much more. She always put in the extra effort to be involved in whatever I was involved in.
Mom, thank you very much! I am not yet a parent but I can gather that being a parent is one of the hardest things most of us will ever do. You did an amazing job and I hope you know that.
